Google Photos getting new editing features with the latest update

Google has updated the Google Photos Android app with new editing features. The new editing features allow one to draw, highlight and add test on top of photos.

We’re excited to announce some new editing features rolling out on the Google Photos Android app, starting today.  Now you can draw, highlight, or add text on top of your photos. See here to learn more.

Google has described the new editing features in some detail and has also shared how to use them.

  1. On your Android device, open the Google Photos app .
  2. Open the photo you want to edit.
  3. Tap Edit Markup .
    • To draw, tap Pen  .
    • To add highlights, tap Highlight .
    • To add text on top of a photo, tap Text . To move the text box around, touch and hold, then drag.

Tip: Depending on your device, you may find Extensionsinstead of Markup . To access these features, tap Extensions Markup .

  1. When you  are finished, tap Done.
  2. To save a copy of the photo with your edits, then at the top right, tap Save as copy.

When you draw, highlight, or write on top of a motion photo to share with others, make sure the parts of the photo you’ve drawn over stay hidden when motion is on.
