Expect a Music app update each month now. Team working on new features for Windows 10

Xbox musicNot only the Xbox Music team has pushed a big update today fixing lots of nagging issues with Windows Phone 8.1 Music app, but they have also shared bit of info about frequency of updates going forward. Seems, now we can expect one Music app update each month. The reason behind less frequent updates is quite interesting though and Microsoft’s Xbox Music team is working to add new features for Windows 10. And, we are really looking forward to “lossless and high quality” music playback in form of FLAC support that will be a native feature coming with future Windows 10 Builds.

A new release is available today for the Xbox Music app on Windows Phone 8.1. You may have noticed it has been more than two weeks since the last update was released. Updates will be less frequent now that the team is also working on new features that will be introduced in Windows 10.  Rest assured we will continue to update the Xbox Music app on Windows Phone 8.1 based on your feedback. Expect an update each month. Please continue making your feedback known on User Voice, in store reviews, and elsewhere on the Internet. We’re listening!

  • Gapless playback has nothing to do with FLAC, perhaps you meant lossless instead?

Nevertheless, both additions would be welcome. The Xbox Music app provides a pretty mediocre experience when it comes to albums that merge the tracks into one flow.

yes, you are absolutely right. somehow that gapless thing was on my mind.
