Nokia 8 and other non Android One Nokia smartphones like Nokia 5 didn’t receive some features like Digital Wellbeing with Android Pie updates because Google has marked these features as Android One exclusive. HMD has however confirmed to us that they are working with Google to bring these features to non Android One Nokia smartphones.
The good news is that Digital Wellbeing is already present in the Android Pie update that Nokia 6 2017 has started receiving starting today. Even Nokia 8 is receiving Digital Wellbeing feature with the new stable Android Pie that started rolling out today in markets like India. If you don’t see Digital Wellbeing after the Pie update installation just go to Google Play Store and update the app.
You can check Digital Wellbeing in action in the hands-on video below.
All the Android Pie changes and new features:
Pie update for Nokia 6/8 should bring major features including Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness and lots of UI and usability improvements. Since Nokia 6 is not an Android One smartphone, some features like Apps actions may be missing.
Apart from all Android Pie features/changes Nokia 6/8 should also get new Ambient display options. Also, Google search widget should not be fixed to bottom as we have seen on Android One smartphones with on-screen touch buttons.
