If you recently picked up Google’s flagship hardware and felt left out of the latest software testing, there is good news. Following earlier releases like the Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6 rollout, Google is officially pushing out Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6.1.

While initial pre-release distributions left early adopters of the newest hardware waiting, Beta 6.1 remedies that delay by formally adding the full Pixel 11 lineup to the testing pool.

Whether you are daily driving a Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, or the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, you can now take the upcoming Quarterly Platform Release for a test drive. For more continuous coverage on upcoming platform drops, check out our dedicated Android 17 archive.

What’s New in Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6.1?

Beyond welcoming Google’s newest flagships into the fold, Beta 6.1 brings targeted feature additions, security upgrades, and under-the-hood stability refinements.

Key Features and Enhancements

  • HiLight Messages: Never miss crucial texts from key contacts. The new HiLight feature prioritizes incoming messages from designated favorite contacts, keeping important conversations front and center.

  • Call-Forwarding Fraud Protection: Security gets a boost with real-time detection designed to intercept unauthorized or malicious call-forwarding attempts, helping guard against SIM-swapping and account takeover schemes.

  • System Stability & Crash Fixes: Addresses system-level bugs, unexpected reboots, and interface hiccups introduced in earlier pre-release builds.

Known Issue: Face Unlock Re-enrollment

Beta software always comes with caveats, and Beta 6.1 is no exception.

Important Note for Foldable Users: If you are testing the build on a Pixel 11 Pro Fold, you may encounter a temporary bug where Face Unlock stops responding or fails to recognize your face. Re-enrolling your facial data via Settings > Security & Privacy resolves the issue.

Build Numbers & Eligible Devices

Google is distributing two distinct build tracks for this over-the-air (OTA) push:

What’s Next? Stable Release Timeline

This QPR cycle is nearing its finish line. Google is expected to release the final, stable version of Android 17 QPR2 in December.

If you are already enrolled in the Google Android Beta Program, head over to Settings > System > System update on your Pixel device to pull down the OTA file. As always, make sure to back up your personal files before installing pre-release builds.
