Xiaomi has officially kicked off the stable release of HyperOS 4, bringing the next generation of its custom operating system to its top-tier flagship smartphones and tablets. Built on top of the latest Android 17 base, HyperOS 4 introduces a revamped aesthetic, faster memory management, and deeply integrated AI capabilities designed to streamline everyday device interaction.

The initial wave focuses heavily on Xiaomi’s newest premium smartphones, starting with the flagship Xiaomi 17 series and the high-performance REDMI K90 lineup.

What’s New in HyperOS 4?

HyperOS 4 goes far beyond a routine incremental update. Xiaomi has reworked critical system components to ensure smoother transitions, better energy efficiency, and a refined visual experience.

1. Soft Light Glass UI & Aesthetic Redesign

The most noticeable change in HyperOS 4 is the Soft Light Glass design language. Featuring layered translucent cards, customizable lock screen layouts, and rounded control tiles, the UI delivers a polished visual depth. Lock screen notifications now support flexible styling options—including list, stack, or count views—for quick glanceability.

2. Enhanced Performance and HyperCore Optimization

Under the hood, HyperOS 4 updates Xiaomi’s existing HyperCore engine with precise workload calculation. By filtering redundant CPU instructions, Xiaomi claims a 14.4% reduction in overall system instruction count compared to HyperOS 3. This translates directly to cooler operation and extended battery endurance during heavy multitasking.

3. AI-Powered RAM Management

Thanks to an intelligent memory preloading system, HyperOS 4 actively predicts which application you’ll open next. This yields up to 27.2% more available memory during typical daily usage patterns, preventing aggressive background app closures and keeping intensive apps ready instantly.

4. Cross-Device Interconnectivity

The updated Fusion Device Centre simplifies multi-device control across Xiaomi’s ecosystem. Whether casting tablet screens, linking shared mobile data, or interacting with smart home hubs, switching devices requires just a single tap.

First Batch Eligible Devices

The stable build is rolling out in scheduled phases. The first batch of flagship devices receiving the over-the-air (OTA) notification includes:

  1. Open your device Settings.

  2. Tap on My Device (or About Phone).

  3. Select System Version / Check for Updates.

  4. Tap Download and Install once the stable build appears.

Note: OTA updates roll out in staged batches, so it may take a few days to become visible on every device. Be sure to back up essential data and maintain at least 50% battery before initiating installation.
