Two major wins for NSN here. TIM Brazil has chosen NSN to upgrade its existing 2G and 3G networks with a LTE (Long Term Evolution) network in the 2.6 GHz band. Even the 2G and 3G networks had been installed by NSN only for the operator.
As part of the contract, NSN will deploy its award-winning Flexi Multiradio base station, which is a radio access network (RAN) used for 3G, FDD(Frequency Division Duplex)-LTE and TDD (Time Division Duplex)-LTE. This latest technology will allow the Brazilian operator to augment its site to 2.6 GHz, reducing expenditure on time, space and power consumption.
AIS Thailand has selected Nokia Siemens Networks to deploy 3G network in Thailand. The rollout of 3G services in 2100 MHz band is expected to meet the growing demand.
3G will further boost its mobile broadband revenue. Nokia Siemens will deploy the 3G network using its Flexi Multiradio Base Station enabling AIS to achieve a fast rollout and manage rapidly increasing traffic growth by providing more coverage and capacity simultaneously. AIS will also be in a position to ensure a smooth migration to LTE / 4G.
