If you remember, we reported about native Music + Videos Folder replacing the Music app in Windows Phone 8.1 update 1, as revealed by OEM documentation. Now, the documentation did mention that the already existing users who upgrade to Windows Phone 8.1 update 1 will not see this Folder and in fact there was no such folder when we upgraded to GDR1 with developer preview. But, what happens when you hard reset your device running GDR1?
I did it for my Lumia 630 and when prompted didn’t chose to restore any backup. So, starting afresh brings you to the default Windows Phone 8.1 update 1 start screen and you do have “Music + Videos” folder there and it works as indicated in the documentation,
By default, there is one folder on the Start screen called Music+videos, which replaces the Music app tile. The Music+videos folder contains the Music, Video, FM Radio, and Podcasts apps. This change applies to all Start tile layouts for Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1.
Because FM Radio, Music, Podcasts, and Video are part of the default Music+videos folder, these Microsoft components are no longer available as individual components that can be prepinned to the Start screen.
But, good news is that you can make changes to this Folder and take individual apps out if you wish to do so.
