Windows Phone 8.1: Launching Kid’s corner doesn’t need you to set a password anymore

Kid's cornerKid’s corner on Windows Phone 8 has been a case of much on promise but less on delivery. One of major annoyance with Kid’s corner was you needing to set a password on your phone. That was bit too much, when you always need to enter password for accessing your phone after launching Kid’s corner.

Fortunately with Windows Phone 8.1 that annoyance is gone and no need to set password for using Kid’s corner anymore. You can now just lock and unlock your device and swipe the lock-screen to left or right  to go to Kid’s corner or the main start screen. That’s a big relief for parents with curious kids at home ( including me).

have you tried Kid’s corner yet?

Really? That’s in your dream. Got my WP with 8.1 version, on december, 2014, n the stupid bug is still there, For the first time u set the kid’s corner, it was really impresive. Main screen had a password that automatically ask from kid’s corner setting, n accessing kid’s corner without password. Just swipe to right, n up.
The buggy thing came up when we change the password for the main lockscreen. The kid’s corner now require the same password we used to the main lockscreen. Stupid..
Great MS for not having this issue fixed for 2 years..

I am having the same problem. After updating to 8.1, I was asked to enter password to enter kids’ corner. It wasn’t the case before update actually.

Still same problem in wp 8.1. There is no improvement n kids corner. Please let me know if you have idea how to use kids corner without password ? Thank you

When setting up Kid’s corner it asks for setting a password. If you don’t set a password, you don’t need one for accessing kid’s corner.

  • If you lock your phone with a password, need same password to unlock kid’s corner, it’s like wp8 then.

    • Kamal

Ya, but if you lock your phone with password, you won’t minding swiping to Kid’s corner after unlocking. good thing is if you don’t wish to lock it then it doesn’t bug you anymore 🙂
