Nokia has done a very neat comparison between offline capabilities of Nokia Maps and Google Maps and has posted the comparison video. The Nokia Map is demoed on a Lumia 920 while Google Maps is on Samsung Galaxy S III. As demoed in the video, offline Nokia Maps provides one with real offline usability which is much superior to what Google Maps offer.
Offering offline maps is not only about giving the option to cache some data offline for later use, it’s a complete experience: it’s about points of interest (POIs) available offline to enable offline search, it’s about navigation voices (over 70 of them, btw) available on-device and offline rerouting.
