How to cast/project screen on Nokia smartphones without Chromecast

  1. Ready your TV, Laptop or PC

Go to your TV and change the source to “Screen mirroring” using your TV remote. On your Miracast supporting Windows 10 Laptops and PCs, open the “Connect” app.

  2. Go to “Cast” screen on your Nokia smartphone

Tap on “Screen Cast” quick-action button and when next screen appears, tap on settings. You can also go to Settings–>Connected devices–>Connection preferences–>Cast.

  3. Ready your Nokia smartphone by checking “Enable Wireless Display”

Now once you are on “Cast” screen as shown in second screenshot above, tap on the 3-dot menu on top-right and check “Enable Wireless Display” option. Once enabled, you will see supported TV or PCs appearing for possible connection to cast/project your smartphone screen.

  4. Connect to available TV and PCs/Laptops

Now you can tap on TV or PCs/Laptops options available in the Cast screen to connect. Your TV should be in “screen mirroring” mode as explained in Step 1. Then only connection will be successful.

When you will try to connect to a Windows 10 PC/Laptop you will see a prompt on your PC or Laptop to allow to “project screen”. Once you allow the casting or screen projection will start.

Google had removed Miracast support from Android Nougat in a bid to promote its Chromecast solution. But you can still use a neat trick to enable Miracast support on the older Nokia devices and cast/project your screen on PC/Laptops and Televisions with Miracast support. This tells us that if your Nokia smartphone in on Android 10 and higher it should support casting by default.

In this video tutorial we have demoed how to cast screen on many older Nokia smartphones including Nokia 8, 7 Plus, 8.1, and 8 Sirocco without Chromecast. This trick works on Nokia smartphones on which casting is not supported by default.
