Nokia and Samsung join hands yet again. Nokia today confirms that both the companies have given their nod to extend patent license agreement for another multi-year time period. This is not for the first time the duo is agreeing to extend their partnership, we have heard something similar way back in 2016. Under this agreement Samsung to pay Nokia for another couple of years, starting from January 2019 onwards.

“Samsung is a leader in the smartphone industry and has been a Nokia licensee for many years,” said Maria Varsellona, Nokia Chief Legal Officer and President of Nokia Technologies. “We are pleased to have reached agreement to extend our license. This agreement demonstrates the strength of our patent portfolio and our leadership in R&D and licensing for cellular standards including 5G.”

The agreement would have dissolved by the end of 2018 had the duo did not extend the agreement for another couple of years. We expect no less than 2 years before the deal gets dissolve between the two.
