Rajeev Suri, the NSN CEO has been one of the likeliest candidates to lead the new Nokia along with Nokia CFO Timo Ihamuotila. But if the latest report from Finnish news paper Helsingin Sanomat has to be believed, Suri has emerged as the strongest candidate for Nokia CEO job. The newspaper quotes its local and foreign sources for this report and also mentions that the Nokia-MS deal closure may happen by end of this month and then Nokia may announce new CEO name.

Network equipment and mobile phones manufacturing by Nokia, the board intends to appoint the company’s new CEO Rajeev Suri, tell the informed foreign and domestic sources.

Formally, the Government has not yet decided on the appointment, but Suri is the strongest of the candidates, according to knowledgeable. Nokia does not want to comment on it in any way.

The board says the nomination in the next few weeks, after the mobile phone business has been sold the software company Microsoft. Phone business by the end of the current month should be sold to Microsoft.

Nokia India counsel has revealed during the tax-case hearing in India yesterday that the deal may get closed within 20 days, as the hurdles faced in China are also cleared.
