As per the latest phones and smartphones market share report shared with us by CounterPoint Research, the Nokia brand ranks 2nd in feature phones & 15th in smartphones amongst top manufacturers in Q4 2020. Nokia feature phones held around 16% market share while Nokia smartphones accounted for only 0.7% of market share globally.

Overall, Nokia handset market share in Q4 2020 stood at a little over 3%. This means that only 2.77 million Nokia smartphones were shipped in Q4 2020 taking into account the CounterPoint report. This compares to a similar 2.8 million smartphones volume in Q4 2019. According to Counterpoint Research, the dated hardware design of Nokia smartphones has eroded its market share.

HMD’s overall handset market share in Q4 stands at a little over 3%. Its featurephones continued a strong performance, grabbing around 16% of the market and keeping it as the second biggest featurephone brand after iTel in Q4 2020. This growth was fuelled by a strong performance in Europe.

Its share of the smartphone market, however, is around 0.7%, ranking it at no. 15 in Q4. HMD’s smartphone market share continues to lag given its dated hardware design.

This is especially valid in markets like India that has seen very aggressive product offerings by the likes of Realme and all other Chinese vendors. They offer latest high-end processors and features in low to mid-price segments.
