Office Lens Windows 10 UWP app available for everyone now

Update: With latest update the app has been renamed as Office Lens in Windows Store. It has also become available for everyone.

Microsoft is planning to bring an  Windows 10 Universal Office Lens app and the UWP app link has been leaked before too. But now the app seems ready for the Public Beta release and we were able to install it and get some screenshots of the upcoming app. The app is code-named as Otemoto in Windows Store listing.

Office Lens Details & Features:

Office Lens trims, enhances, and makes pictures of whiteboards and docs readable. You can use Office Lens to convert images to PDF, Word and PowerPoint files, and you can even save images to OneNote or OneDrive. Office Lens is like having a scanner in your pocket. Like magic, it will digitize notes from whiteboards or blackboards. Always find important documents or business cards. Sketch your ideas and snap a picture for later. Don’t lose receipts or stray sticky notes again! By installing the app, you agree to these terms and conditions:

Scenarios: – Capture and crop a picture of a whiteboard or blackboard and share your meeting notes with co-workers. – Make digital copies of your printed documents, business cards, or posters and trim them precisely. – Printed and handwritten text will be automatically recognized (using OCR), so you can search for words in images and then copy and edit them.

  • This is fun! I had an app with this functionality in 2006 on my Nokia E7… and used it to document my whiteboard notes during lectures at the university. Have used office lens a couple of times on my Lumia…

Am a great fan and frequent user of the office lens on my Lumia. The only hitch is the max 10 page scan limit. For those who don’t use it, it means that you can only scan maximum 10 pages as a single document. Then u need to save the document and start a new document… hope that improves with new UWP app.
