Nokia has packed nearly all Lumia devices with BT4.0 hardware but due to software restrictions, most have been limited to Bluetooth 3.0, at the time of release to market. Nokia had upgraded some devices in past and now taking care of three more as the applications to FCC indicate. Nokia has asked FCC permission to upgrade Verizon bound Lumia 822 and 928 and AT&T / Global variant of Lumia 1020 for upgrade to enable “Bluetooth Low Energy” which means BT4.0. The Bluetooth low energy provides capability of using some compatible accessories and also in indoor navigation.
