So, seems the dust has finally settled on Nokia vs Indian government tussle which has been in news for quite sometime. There were some reports in media claiming to be in knowledge of,

Nokia writing a letter to commerce ministry and complaining about business environment in the country. The reports also claimed that Nokia could shut down manufacturing in the country as it had become the “least favorable market”. The report cited a letter that Nokia had written in June, saying it was better to shift to China.

Now, we don’t know the truth behind that report but it seems Nokia was unhappy with not getting the promised “SEZ tax benefits” it was promised while setting up plant in Chennai. But after recent discussions with Indian and state governments, which Nokia claims to be “productive and constructive“, seems Nokia has also got one government order in its favor. It has also refuted any rumors about closing the Chennai plant in an emailed statement saying, “manufacturing plant at Chennai continued to play an integral part in its global manufacturing strategy”
