Nokia Mobile is all set to bring Nokia 8.3 5G PureView, its first 5G smartphone to market it teased recently. Now, we hear that HMD is already testing a Mediatek Dimensity 8XX chipset for one of its lower-cost 5G smartphones.

While we earlier reported that Nokia 7.3 may be a cheaper 5G smartphone from HMD, our sources indicated that it may pack a Snapdragon processor. They also cautioned that it has two prototypes, one with 5G support and another without 5G.

So, Nokia 7.3, even if it comes with 5G support may not be the one powered by the Mediatek Dimensity processor family. We also learned that HMD is aggressively looking to ride the 5G smartphone bandwagon and may take big strides in that direction.

The Nokia smartphone powered by the Dimensity processor may be launched early next year and may not be part of the big Nokia launch planned in Q3/Q4 2020. MediaTek Dimensity processor family currently has Dimensity 800, 820, and 1000 series chipsets with 5G support. Read more about these processors here.

We will keep you updated as we come to know more about this interesting smartphone. Stay tuned.
