After launching Nokia X20 5G at a price that brings it close to the current price of Nokia 8.3 5G in markets like the UK, Nokia Mobile may be planning to discontinue Nokia 8.3 5G soon. At least major retailer Clove has already delisted Nokia 8.3 5G and claims that the smartphones has been discontinued.
Nokia 8.3 5G 6GB RAM/64GB storage is however available at the official Nokia store for the price of £349.99 though a bundle with clear case is available at £284.99. Now, from all indications we have seen so far HMD is going to price Nokia X20 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant at £318 in the UK.
So, for making way for the Nokia X20 5G, HMD global may be planning to sell out of available Nokia 8.3 5G stock in the UK. It will be difficult to imagine a prospective Nokia buyer to choose Nokia X20 over Nokia 8.3 5G especially when both are so close in terms of pricing.
This fits with the HMD global strategy of making the C-series, G-series and X-series available in coming months across markets. HMD may plan to phase out the existing Nokia smartphones that are not selling that well or are not ushering into the profit margin that the company aims to garner.
It is also possible that it may be a UK-only thing for now and in other markets Nokia 8.3 5G may be be available for longer. But we will keep you updated about this.
