Quick heads-up!! We brought to you report about Nokia’s emphatic patent case win against HTC in UK earlier. Now, the court has given a ruling which blocks sales of HTC One mini and other infringing HTC Android devices in UK from 6th December. Court also found HTC One infringing the said patent, but allowed HTC time till 6th December to appeal against the ruling because “Blocking UK sales of the One would cause “considerable” damage to HTC”. In the meantime HTC has undertaken not to import any of its device other than HTC One till the time the appeal against this decision is decided.

Nokia has released a statement asking for financial compensation as well,

“Nokia is pleased that the UK High Court has imposed an injunction on certain HTC products found in October to infringe a Nokia patent. The injunction is stayed until December 6 to allow HTC time to appeal. Pending the appeal, HTC has undertaken not to ship any more of the infringing products into the UK, except the HTC One which it may continue to sell until the conclusion of any appeal. If HTC does not succeed on appeal, the injunction will take effect on all infringing products. Nokia is also claiming financial compensation for the infringement of this patent.”

Nokia is suing HTC over this patent not only in UK but also in US, Germany, Japan and Italy. So, HTC may ultimately end up paying royalties to Nokia otherwise it may face injunction on its latest devices, which is less likely.
