The fate of Kai OS is unknown especially when it comes to commitment from major companies like Google and Meta. While it is a promising alternative OS for smarter phones, it is unknown whether it will be powering up the upcoming feature phones from HMD Global. And , other than the US only Nokia 2780 Flip powered by the latest Kai OS 3.1 launched more than a year ago, it seems like HMD Global has shifted their choice of OS powering their feature phone to S30+.
Nokia 6300 4G
This 2 year old device surprisingly can still be bought as a new device even in 2024 for a mere USD50, which is a bargain. This dual 4G SIM device, powered by Qualcomm 210 processor with 512MB RAM and 4GB of expandable storage, runs on Kai OS 2.5. That’s right. A slightly outdated version, but one that supports Whatsapp. This maybe the device that many have been searching for. A truly budget feature phone with Whatsapp capability.
The built quality, though of plastic is as durable as any Nokia branded device. The keypad , while recessed, has a better tactile feedback than the horrible experience that many had with the 8110 4G. The 2.4 in LCD display is not the best in class but it will get the job done. From browsing to snapping images on the go, from listening to MP3 files and playing games and with a dedicated app store, the Nokia 6300 4G is certainly a device that has much to offer for most of us. The ability to sync to Google server for contacts and calendar is a wish come true for many. This is the smarter phone that you need. Easy on your pocket and smarter than you want it to be.
