It was not long since we reported about a Windows Phone 8.1 version 8.10.14130.0, which was a significant bump from release version 8.10.12397.895 rolling out as final update to Windows Phone 8 devices.
Now a new version 8.10.14140.0 has been seen on WPBench again. It is a bump from the last version 8.10.14130.0 and since these two versions carry 8.10.141*, they may well belong to a particular software release, which in case can be Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1, which may have already hit RTM stage as hinted by our sources. The developer preview enabled devices may get the GDR1 update in early to mid August, though a bit of delay can take it to late August as well.
Sometime back we reported that the ability to create start screen folders natively is coming to Windows Phone 8.1 soon. The new feature which appeared briefly on Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8.1 support page was captured by us before it was pulled. So, it seems Microsoft has been testing GDR1 and native folder creation may be one of the changes it may bring.
