More about Lumia camera, Dynamic flash, 4K video, Auto HDR & eligible devices

Lumia_CameraMore details about the imaging improvements coming with Lumia Denim!!

First the not so good news:

All the amazing improvements coming with Lumia camera like Moment capture, Dynamic flash, 4K video, Auto HDR are meant for only Lumia 930, Lumia 1520, Lumia Icon and Lumia 830. On top of that Lumia 830 can’t record 4K videos but does Moment Capture in Full HD, and with reduced 2-megapixel per frame quality.

The post at Conversations also suggests that Lumia Camera will only come to Lumia 830, Lumia 930, Lumia Icon and Lumia 1520 as part of Lumia Denim, which may not be the case. We have seen Microsoft dropping Nokia branding from all the Lumia exclusive apps, so we can assume that Nokia Camera will be updated to Lumia Camera, but these new features will come to only Lumia 830, Lumia 930, Lumia Icon and Lumia 1520.

Anyways, it is surprising to see Lumia 730’s name missing here as it has the same hardware as of Lumia 830.

Now the details:

  • Speedy shooting: The Lumia Camera brings super-fast pocket to capture, and shot to shot speeds. Using the camera hardware button, Lumia Camera springs into action in an instant.
  • 4K-quality video  & Moment capture:  Moment Capture is activated by a long press of the camera button, and instantly starts recording your subject in 4K at 24 frames per second. Each of the frames captured is a high quality 8.3 megapixel shot that can be saved as an individual photo.

Lumia 830 also brings all the great features of Lumia Camera, but shoots Moment Capture in FullHD, not 4K, and with reduced 2-megapixel per frame quality.

  • Rich Capture, Auto HDR & Dynamic Flash: Rich Capture uses Auto HDR with dynamic exposure steps and flash settings – to provide the perfect shot with more details than ever before. The great New Dynamic Flash setting captures images automatically with and without flash, and lets you decide how to remember the scene by choosing the amount of flash used in the shot, after it has been taken. You can have less flash for really warm photos, or apply more flash to make the details even sharper.

You can watch all these cool features in action in replay of yesterday’s press event. The new Lumia Camera will be available for Lumia 830, Lumia 930, Lumia Icon and Lumia 1520 as part of the Lumia Denim update that starts rolling out in Q4.
