OPPO is revamping the lockscreen experience with its upcoming ColorOS 17 update, targeting one of smartphone users’ biggest daily annoyances: notification clutter. The flagship addition is a brand-new “Stack” Notification View, giving users more granular control over how incoming alerts display on their lockscreen.
Instead of endless scrolling or overly aggressive summaries, the new update lets you customize your notification aesthetics and functional layout directly within the display settings.

Three Ways to Style Your Lockscreen Alerts
ColorOS 17 breaks lockscreen customization into three distinct layout styles to suit different preferences:
Stack View (New): Groups incoming alerts into a layered, overlapping card deck. This keeps your lockscreen clean while keeping recent updates easily expandable with a quick tap.
Capsule View: Minimizes alerts into compact, pill-shaped chips at the bottom of the display. Perfect for minimalist setups or showing off lockscreen wallpapers.
List View: The classic standard layout. Displays every notification chronologically down the center of the display for immediate scannability.

ColorOS 17 Lockscreen Layout Comparison
| Notification Style | Visual Footprint | Best Used For | Tap Behavior |
| Capsule | Minimal (Pill icon) | Uncluttered wallpaper views | Expands into temporary overlay |
| Stack (New) | Moderate (Layered deck) | Balancing clean looks with quick previews | Fanning out stacked cards |
| List | Full screen height | High-volume message tracking | Direct access to individual apps |
How to Toggle the New Layout
Once updated to ColorOS 17, users can switch between these modes by opening Settings > Wallpaper & Style > Lock Screen, selecting the Notifications toggle, and choosing between Capsule, Stack, or List.
