Update: Recently we shared a tutorial that shows how to cast screen on Nokia smartphones without Chromecast by tweaking developer options. But this works only with Nokia smartphones running Android Pie and above. Click here to check this tutorial.
We have faced many questions from our readers about not being able to cast screen using Nokia 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 6.1, 7 Plus and 8, 8 Sirocco on their Smart TV or Windows PCs. On many forums, you will find conflicting assumptions like Nokia disabling the Cast and Direct Wi-Fi support on Nokia Android Phones.
The fact is Google has removed Miracast support from Android Nougat and higher in a bid to promote its Chromecast solution. Nokia Android Phones come running Android Nougat 7.0 or higher out of the box and thus arrive without Miracast support.
So, for being able to cast screen using Nokia 2, 5, 6 and other Nokia smartphones you need to have a Chromecast or a Chromecast-enabled TV. Nokia 3 is another story as you don’t have the Cast button available somehow.
You can read more about this here. Google clearly mentions that for casting your screen from your Android device you need Chromecast or TV with Chromecast built-in.
Step 2. Cast your screen from your Android device
- Connect your Android device to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast or TV with Chromecast built-in.
- Open the Google Home app
- In the top left corner of the app’s Home screen, tap Menu Cast Screen / audio Cast Screen / audio.
- Select your Chromecast or TV with Chromecast built-in.
But you can still use your Smart TV manufacturer’s apps to cast screen and play pictures, videos, and games on your TV. For example, if you have a Samsung TV you can use the Samsung Smart TV app to cast your Nokia Phone screen and it works on all Nokia Android Phones. We tested it and found working on all Nokia Android Phones.
