A tip we received from one of our trusted sources claims that Nokia’s Z Launcher for Android that is also the default UI on Nokia N1, is going to get all more intelligent in future. Nokia is working on an intelligent virtual assistant with AI capabilities for Z Launcher. This will be possible due to Nokia’ employing technology from Desti that it acquired some time ago.
Desti was a spin-off from the team behind popular iPhone’s assistant SIRI and the acquisition had led to speculation that Nokia may be planning to develop a humanized assistant for HERE.
Here is what the tip says,
Zlauncher is supposed to evolve into something much complex and a diverse product with AI capabilities beyond mere launcher app.
Desti is a trip planner with AI and natural language processing capabilities. it comes from same lab where siri was developed. So Nokia have access to AI and language processing patents.
Nokia N1 is on its way to more markets and is already available in China and Taiwan. The inclusion of a virtual assistant should make the Z Launcher and Nokia-branded devices like Nokia N1 even more appealing to buyers.
