In wake of our reporting of Microsoft going to push Windows 10 as the next major preview for “Phone Insiders” and skipping on Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2, we now have some more info from our other sources.
It seems Microsoft is finally fast-tracking Windows 10 for Phones development and the info that our original source has provided about watered down GDR2 for normal users also holds true.
So, Microsoft is now targeting to deliver Windows 10 for Mobile to manufacturers during late Q2 and that’s why this hurry to push the Build to Insiders after 21st event. Some first devices running Windows Mobile 10 (or whatever it is finally called) may appear during MWC and we are growing in confidence about a high-end Lumia among the others (though don’t kill me, if that doesn’t happen, as we need more evidences before saying “it is on”).
The Lumia 1520 and Lumia 930 successors that we reported targeted for early fall arrival, may get announced 1-2 month earlier too. Though, with carriers on-board, final release may take time again and may again stretch to early fall.
