As promised by HMD time and again, Nokia 3 has started receiving the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update in some markets. Our Indian Nokia 3 variant has just received the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update. We also received tips along with screenshots from our readers. HMD has shared their plans to roll-out the update in phases across markets, so this is not quite unexpected.
As you can notice the update is about 748.3MB in size which is big and you should try to connect to a Wi-Fi before trying to install the update. Coming to what Android 7.1.1 brings over Android 7.0, you can refer to the official changelog posted by Google.
Nokia 3 came running Android 7.0 out of the box unlike other Nokia 5 and 6 which came with Android 7.1.1 pre-installed. HMD has already promised minimum two years of OS update support for its Android smartphones. But the delay in Nokia 3 getting Android 7.1.1 is squarely blamed on MediaTek, that people claim is slow in providing updated drivers for Android updates.
HMD has been very prompt in pushing both Monthly security updates as well as in pushing Android OS updates so far to China, Hong Kong and Taiwan variants of Nokia 6.
Thanks Aasif for the screenshot. Cheers!!
