Nokia inks Patent licensing and Business collaboration agreement with Apple. Settles all litigation

0

Nokia last sued Apple in Germany and the US for infringement of a number of its patents. Apple had already been a Nokia Patents licensee since 2011 and this patent licensing agreement ended December 31 2016. Nokia took this step when Apple declined subsequent offers made by Nokia to license its patents. Apple responded to Nokia’s litigation by removing Withings’ Products for its Apple store.

But now seems wise guys Nokia and Apple have sorted out their differences and have settled all litigation. Consequently Nokia and Apple have entered not only into a new patent licensing agreement but also into a more interesting “Business Collaboration” in the field of Digital Health.

Nokia will get up-front cash payment and additional licensing revenue during the term of the agreement.

While details of the agreement remain confidential, Nokia will receive an up-front cash payment from Apple, with additional revenues during the term of the agreement.

Business collaboration will see Withings (Nokia) Digital Health products making a comeback to Apple retail and online Stores. Apple and Nokia will also explore future collaboration in Digital Health initiatives.

Under a business collaboration agreement, Nokia will be providing certain network infrastructure products and services to Apple. Apple will resume carrying Nokia digital health products (formerly under the Withings brand) in Apple retail and online stores, and Apple and Nokia are exploring future collaboration in digital health initiatives. Regular summits between top Nokia and Apple executives will ensure that the relationship works effectively and to the benefit of both parties and their customers.
