Worldline & HERE partner on connected cars & Fleet-management related cloud-based M2M services.

Here465x300Nokia’s HERE Maps and M2M player Worldline have teamed up to offer cloud-based M2M services. These services include connected cars, Fleet-management and a new connected buildings related offerings. HERE is the only mapping player in market with portfolio of full cloud-based navigation solution. From the source article,

The two companies are to develop fleet-management services allowing customers to track their operations in real-time, and improve their safety measures, through the use of real-time information and business analytics.

They are also teaming up on new connected-car services, including features that will facilitate parking, ease traffic congestion and improve driver safety.

In the connected buildings market, they plan to target the retail, transportation and e-health industries with new offerings, but have not yet provided details about these services

HERE Maps is the mapping platform of choice for auto manufacturers and in 2013, HERE has powered more than 10 million new cars. Nokia is evolving HERE maps with cm level precision to lead the connected cars market and has hinted that “improved Here version 2.0 is for smartwatches, self-driving cars, & drones“.

Latest Gartner’s research notes that 25% of all automakers will have monetized mobile commerce transactions conducted from their connected-vehicle offerings by 2017. Given its background in the payments-services area, Wordline also appears to have spotted an opportunity to combine a mobile-commerce offering with a connected-vehicle one.
