Thanks errornokia for the tip. Not only, WeChat, when we checked many apps including Facebook, Instagram, Facebook messenger and more have Windows Phone 8.1 appearing now in “Works with” section. Is the release closer than we thought?
Windows Phone 8 apps are supposed to be compatible with Windows Phone 8.1 devices according to leaks, while Windows Phone 8.1 apps will be compatible with Windows Phone 8 devices only when they run Windows Phone 8.1 update.
We reported how some of the apps have been caught with Windows Phone 8.1 compatibility only to disappear from store, later. Now, popular messenger apps WeChat has also the Windows Phone 8.1 compatible version in the store and it has been sometime since we got the tip and it still shows its compatibility with Windows Phone 8.1. Even the WeChat South African Twitter account seems endorsing it.

So, may be the big-name developers have already readied their apps for arrival of the big Windows Phone 8.1 update, which is reported to be showcased for the first time during BUILD 2014.
