Smartphone Camera shootout: 808 PureView vs iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Sony Xperia T vs HTC One X.

This is one of those Camera smartphones shootouts which I have really liked. The reviewer from Recombu.com has conducted the shootout in a fair manner and in varied conditions. All the smartphones were set to shoot 8-megapixel images except for the Xperia T which uses Sony’s 13-megapixel EXMOR RS sensor. Though results are highly predictable, but the way 808 PureView owns every one of them is worth reading. Be it daylight, lowlight or whichever kind of conditions 808 PureView blows everyone else out of water. Just check the conclusion.

Pooling in the scores and the winner of our latest, London inspired camera comparison is the Nokia 808 PureView. Given the 41-megapixel sensor behind those 8-megapixel images though, this is hardly a shock to the system.

The next time we pool together this many phones, traipse around London or whatever city we’re in and take multiple shots of the same thing will probably be when the Nokia Lumia 920 is released. Frankly, we can’t wait for its optical image stabilisation and revised PureView technology, but in the meantime – congratulations to Nokia for their 808 PureView and it’s shiny new digital crown and to all these great camera phones.
