Rich HDR editing in Windows 10 Mobile broken by recent updates

7

Microsoft has pushed update after update to Windows 10 Mobile native apps in recent times. While the updates usually bring some cool features to the apps but sometimes they break features too. That has happened with recent Photos updates. While we have reported Photos updates adding many major and minor features, the latest update has broken Rich Capture or Rich HDR editing in Photos App.

If you now go to Photos App after capturing the image with Rich HDR on and tap on  “choose the best lighting” or exposure depending upon when the image was capture, it will throw an error “something went wrong, please try again”. This error is on at least three Rich Capture supported devices we have including Lumia 550, 640 XL and 950.
