Report: 21.5 million Nokia handsets shipped in Q4 2017 in a sharp growth over Q3 shipments

Nokia handsets (Phones and smartphones) have seen sharp growth in shipments in Q4 2017 on a QoQ basis. As per a report shared exclusively with us by the analyst firm Counterpoint Research, Nokia handsets shipment touched 21.5 million units in the fourth quarter of 2017.

Counterpoint Research mentions the launch of quality smartphones and a diverse portfolio covering multiple price segment as a major factor behind gaining market share. A recent report covering the Indian market from Counterpoint Research had given 6% feature phone market share and 5th rank among the feature phone vendors to Nokia (HMD).

It is not yet clear how many of the 21.5 million handsets were Nokia smartphones and the analyst firm is still processing their raw data. But they did let us know that Nokia is about to enter in top 10 smartphone vendors globally. So, we will report the no. of smartphones sold in Q4 2017 once we have the exact numbers from CR.

As per an earlier report from IDC around 1.5 million Nokia Smartphones were shipped in H1 2017 worldwide. Another report from Counterpoint Research claimed that 2.8 million Nokia Android Smartphones and 13.5 million Nokia Feature phones were shipped by HMD in Q3 2017.

Industry watchers like Strategy Analytics are also showing confidence in HMD’s strategy by betting Nokia Phones to one of the drivers of smartphone shipment growth in 2018.
