Nokia threatens to sue Lowdownapp over use of “HERE” name for its services

1

Nokia HERENokia has threatened to sue a London-based small technology firm Lowdownapp over use of “HERE” name for its location services and app. Lowdownapp is using HERE for the service of intimation of arrival and even has launched a standalone app with HERE name.

HERE is a registered trademark owned by Nokia in both Europe and US and that can be seen in the screenshot above. This reminds us of how once huge number of clone apps with official names like YouTube and Facebook were swarming the Windows Phone store. So, it is quite natural for Nokia to take action against a firm using its registered trademark for apps or otherwise without proper licensing.

Nokia has given the firm a deadline of 10 February 2015 to re-brand its HERE service and app.
