Nokia sues OPPO in multiple markets over patent infringement

1

Nokia has decided to filed patent infringement complaints against OPPO in multiple markets across Europe and Asia. The report informs that Nokia has invoked both SEP and non-SEP patents (related to connectivity, user interface, and security features).

Nokia had secured a multi-year patent deal with OPPO in 2018 and it seems that duration of the deal may have been over. This is what Nokia has confirmed to the source of this story.

“We have been negotiating the renewal of our patent licensing agreement with Oppo but unfortunately they have rejected our fair and reasonable offers. Litigation is always our last resort and we have offered to enter into independent and neutral arbitration to amicably resolve the matter. We still believe this would be the most constructive way forward.”

In recent times Nokia has signed royalty-bearing licensing agreements with likes of LenovoSamsungXiaomiAppleLG, and Blackberry. You can check our full coverage of Nokia’s patent licensing news here.
