Recently reports from some analyst firms have revealed a rise in Nokia smartphone shipments in Q2 2021. Another report now claims strong growth in Nokia smartphones market share in Germany market in the second quarter of 2021.

As per the report by analyst firm Strategy Analytics, Nokia Mobile posted strong performance in Q2 2021 and its market share is said to be on the rise. Though there are no figures quoted in the report it is in sync with other reports that show an upward trend for Nokia smartphones market share globally in Q2 2021.

The composition of the market has changed with Samsung + Apple growing share from approximately 1 in 3 devices in Q1, 2011 to almost 70% at the end of Q2 2021. Xiaomi and Oppo are the rising stars of the market as Huawei share falls below 2%.  Vivo and HMD (Nokia) posted strong performance in Q2 2021 and are on the rise.

The report also highlights how erosion in Sony and LG market shares have them landed near 1% figure. Samsung, Apple, and Oppo are three top vendors in the German market.

Fun fact: At the end of 2010 Sony and LG each had double digit share in the German Smartphone market. Today, they well south of 1%!!

Apple has a commanding lead in terms of volume share at each of the leading German operators with Samsung a clear number two. Oppo has gained a strong foothold at DT/T-Mobile and is the third ranked vendor.

A Q2 2021 report from the analyst firm CounterPoint research claimed that Nokia smartphones shipments grew by 36% in the second quarter of 2021 compared to Q1 2021. The report attributes this growth to the launch of Nokia 1.4, G and C series of smartphones.

Nokia Mobile shipped nearly 12.8 million handsets in the Q2 2021. This Q2 shipment figure includes 10.1 million Nokia feature phones and 2.7 million smartphone units. Nokia was the second biggest brand in terms of market share in the feature phone market grabbing 18 per cent of the feature phone market share.
