Nokia Mobile has used Snapdragon 480 5G processor beyond saturation limit in its 5G smartphones. In fact, there may be more 5G Nokia smartphones powered by the same processor in pipeline. And, now the company has hinted at eyeing recently launched Snapdragon 480 Plus processor in future smartphones.

Qualcomm recently launched Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G, 695 5G, 480 Plus 5G, and 680 4G processors. But, HMD Global has hinted at Snapdragon 480 Plus being considered for its future smartphones in Qualcomm’s press release.

  • HMD Global: “The Snapdragon 480 5G Mobile Platform has been an instrumental part of HMD Global’s drive to bring high quality, affordable 5G smartphones, supported by commitments to longevity and reliability, to as many people as possible. Powering devices in our X-series like the life-proof Nokia XR20, and now bringing 5G to our most accessible price point yet with the Nokia G50, the Snapdragon 480 has brought a strong blend of performance and reliability to our users. We are excited to continue to innovate and deliver great experiences to our customers in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies and look forward to the launch of the Snapdragon 480 Plus.”

This is quite possible that HMD Global will launch a whole new range of Nokia smartphones powered by Snapdragon 480 Plus given its insistence on using its predecessor in many. Nokia X10, Nokia X20, Nokia XR20, Nokia G50, Nokia G300 and most probably Nokia X100 too will feature Snapdragon 480 5G processor.

But, this may be disappointing for Nokia fans who expected a more powerful processor to power future Nokia smartphones. What excitement can the Snapdragon 480 Plus powered smartphones may generate in future needs to be seen.
