Nokia granted patent on “Refined Haptic Feedback system” to simulate the sensation of linear and circular movement.

Nokia has just added a new patent on refining the haptic feedback to such levels that it can simulate the sensation of linear and circular movement. Nokia also hypothesizes that the system will be useful for providing navigational route guidance, without the need for visual or auditory feedback. The system used here is a matrix of independent haptic devices that remain stationary, but combine to simulate the sensation of linear and circular movement. Not only the enhanced feedback could bring a new level of interaction to the software interface, but also seems that it will enhance already great Nokia Maps and Drive applications experience.
