Nokia or Nokia Networks has acquired an Australian company called Mesaplexx. Mesaplexx is considered to be experts in compact radio systems.
Nokia confirms that it has recently completed the acquisition of the Australian company Mesaplexx Pty Ltd in order to boost its radio capabilities in the Networks business. Mesaplexx has unique know-how in developing compact, high performance radio frequency (RF) filter technology for the mobile industry.
Nokia is continually improving its radio systems whilst making them smaller, lighter and more efficient. The Nokia Flexi family of radio access base stations offers cutting-edge solutions that balance energy efficiency, power output and form factor. Adding the very advanced Mesaplexx technology can enhance them further, potentially reducing small cells form factor by 30% or more.
While, investors had expected Nokia acquiring big companies like Alcatel, small acquisitions are flavor of the times and Nokia is also focusing to acquire critical skills through such deals.
Nokia has also launched a new Security business unit to develop business around Telco security a space in which it already has significant presence. It has partnerships with likes of F-Secure and Juniper for security related solutions.
Nokia today announced the launch of a dedicated Security unit to ensure new products have security baked in, enhance the portfolio of security products and services, and develop business models around telco security.
The new unit, to be set up on June 1, 2014, will also further expand Nokia’s security partner ecosystem to create additional value for operators and make security a positive differentiator. It will be part of Mobile Broadband organization, one of the cornerstones of the Networks business at Nokia.
