Is Nokia planning a voice-assistant for HERE’s automotive products

2

It may look bit far-fetched but it is not impossible. Nokia acquired Desti, a spin-off from the team behind popular iPhone’s assistant SIRI and it led to speculation that Nokia may be planning to develop a humanized assistant for its upcoming smartwatch, that was supposed to come under HERE brand. Now, Nokia has shelved plans for any hardware under HERE brand, but it seems it will incorporate the “speech recognition” based voice technologies in its automotive solutions.

A job opening from HERE seeks a expert on speech recognition for its “voice technologies” job. It is related to automotive industry however.

As a Principal Engineer – Voice Technologies you will be responsible for conception and realization of voice input technologies in an automotive environment. Being the expert on speech recognition, you will work between the product management and software engineering teams and drive innovation and development of voice technologies into our cutting edge products for the automotive industry. You will write code that is used in our embedded voice products and will work closely with various internal teams and also discuss concepts and integration with our customers.
