Yet another good news for Nokia! InterDigital, the patent troll company which has sued Nokia and many other companies for patent infringement in US has lost the case. InterDigital has filed a complaint in 2011 against Nokia, Huawei and ZTE. Now, ITC has confirmed in its final ruling that no IPR violations has happened by Nokia, Huawei and ZTE. This comes as relief to Nokia and it can now focus it energy in bringing its patent violators like HTC or Google to task.

From FOSS patents,

At close of business on Thursday, the United States International Trade Commission (USITC, or just ITC) handed down its final ruling on InterDigital’s July 2011 complaint against Nokia, Huawei, and ZTE. The Commission, the six-member decision-making body at the top of the U.S. trade agency with quasijudicial powers, affirmed the bottom line — a finding of no violation whatsoever by these three defendants — of a June 2013 preliminary ruling by an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ).

Nokia has just won patent lawsuits against HTC in UK and Germany amounting to injunction against HTC’s major Android devices and has also targeted Google for its Maps and navigation services.
