HMD to talk about 5G Nokia smartphone plans at Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit 2019

HMD CPO Juho Sarvikas took to Twitter to post about his participation in Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit 2019. He teased about “learning more about 5G plans for Nokia phones” at the summit tomorrow, on December 3.

So far we have heard about two Nokia 5G smartphones in works. Nokia 9.1 PureView powered by Snapdraon 855 and Nokia 8.2 powered by Snapdragon 735 are in works and may be revealed in Q1 2010. Nokia 9.1 PureView was targeted to be in market by end of year 2019, but things slowed down later to push it to early 2020.

An early rumor has claimed that Nokia 8.2 will features a 32 MP pop-up selfie camera and our sources have tipped us about a 64MP rear camera and the design. We last reported about the possibility of the upcoming Qualcomm processor Snapdragon 735 powering the 5G capable Nokia  8.2. The Nokia value flagship Nokia 8.2 will be priced around $500, if we consider what Juho hinted at in the interview.

Talking about the Snapdragon 735 processor with 5G support Qualcomm revealed that it will be based on 7nm platform. It will bring next-gen AI Engine, gaming and other premium features to the affordable category.
