Google to bring Safe Folders feature to Files on Android

0

Google Files is the default file manager on Nokia smartphones a most of them are Android One smartphones with near-stock Android. Now, it seems Google is working on a new Files feature “Safe Folders” that many have been asking for.

Safe Folders, as the name suggests is a folder especially meant for safe-keeping of important and confidential files. It appears in the collections section of the Files’ browse tab. It will be protected by means of a PIN and can be accessed only by the person with PIN information.

So, if you lose the PIN information currently there is no way to retrieve the files saved in the Safe Folders. No other app can access the files saved in Safe Folders.

Folks at XDA were able to do APK tear-down of the latest Files app release and enable the upcoming feature. So, while the feature is not available yet, you can see how it works in the screenshots above.
