August update for Nokia 6 in India brings new quick-action button, Android patch & more

0

Nokia 6 went on sale in India quite late (August 23) as compared to other markets. Due to this, the August update has arrived for Nokia 6 Indian variant much later than the Nokia 6 in other markets. The August update brings both Google’s July 2017 and August 2017 Android patches with it for Nokia 6 in India.

Changelog (What’s new):

Apart from the Android patches, the Nokia 6 August update brings system stability improvements, Wi-Fi compatibility fix and a new quick-action button “Screen Capture”. In fact we just found this quick-action button on Nokia 5 (already with August update) and posted a video of it. So, now even Nokia 6 gets this capture screen quick-action button.

You can go to Google’s official July & August Security Bulletin page for reading the details about patches that July and August Android updates bring.

How to get the update:

You will either be prompted to download this update or you can check by going to Settings and searching system updates and then by checking for the update. The July patch update is 162.3 MB in size, while the August patch update is 119.2 MB in size.

HMD has been quite consistent in terms of releasing Monthly Security updates and OS updates for Nokia smartphones already available in the market.

HMD has also made it clear that all Nokia Android Phones will receive minimum two years of OS update support. HMD confirmed Android O roll-out to Nokia 3, 5 and 6 when it is released by Google in a statement given to us. Android P the successor to Android O is confirmed too because of the promise of 2-years of update support.
