Microsoft CMO hints at brand-new category of Mobile devices in 2017

Another reiteration of Microsoft’s Mobile strategy, as revealed in interviews of CEO Satya Nadella, has come from Microsoft’s CMO Chris Capossela. But in this case we certainly have a hint about “many great new things” coming in 2017. And this hint came when Chris was talking about “Windows Phone’s future”.

Chris reiterated the strategy to create “brand-new category of Mobile device” which other OEMs can follow a la Surface Pro and Surface Studio. While quipping that he is not going to announce a new category of device right now, he did hint about something related to Mobile and new category of device coming in 2017. You can watch the video with the time-stamp to hear the conversation.

In one of his recent interviews Satya Nadella had talked about being in market for the ultimate mobile device.  In a previous Interview he talked about creating Phone Categories with “some new form, new function, new value added”. At Microsoft’s annual meeting, Satya Nadella told shareholders that they are not stepping away from mobile devices.

MS, if you develop and offer us that kind of device in future don’t make your (I will say used to) previous (known by all) mistake and not marketing your product. People buy stories, dreams and fairy-tales that they can recognise in their everyday living. Marketing rules the world and makes rumour loudness lauder.
