We just shared our first hands-on impressions of the Windows 10 Mobile Redstone Build 14295 and it is mostly positive. The build is fast, smooth and stable on devices like Lumia 550 and 640 XL. But the build does have its own share of known issues and even some unknown bugs that we could find while playing with the build and via tips by our readers.

Screen Flickering while playing video:

This bug is present on some of the devices running Build 14295 and surprisingly on some devices it may or mayn’t happen perhaps based on the RAM usage. We checked on a Lumia 730, Lumia 640, Lumia 550 and Lumia 640 XL. On Lumia 730, Lumia 550 and Lumia 640 XL if you play a video and tap on screen when video is playing your screen may start flickering. This doesn’t happen always though.

Apps automatically close in background:

While the native and 3rd party apps are quite stable on Build 14295, you may see one app card dropping in multitsaking screen at times, without even closing them manually, and that too when you are running only 8 apps well within the limit. So, seems there is some issue with RAM management and when the memory is low some apps get closed in background. May be apps don’t get suspended properly in background.

Phone & Calling Issues:

Some report freezing issue, while using the Phone app and while trying to access the History and Dial Pad.

Multitasking limit of 8 Apps still holds for 1 GB RAM devices:

While devices like Lumia 950 with 3 GB RAM are able to have 16 Apps cards open in Multitasking UI with Redstone, seems the multitasking limit for 1 GB RAM devices is still 8 Apps only.

So, it seems Microsoft needs to work on improving multitasking and RAM management in future Redstone Builds. If you have encountered other bugs in Build 14295, do let us know in comments and we will update the article.
