It is rather sad to find out that T-Mobile has perhaps not chosen to update Lumia 710 with WP7.8. A reader of WPCentral has received a mail from Nokia in this regard, which goes like this,
In response to your concern, we understand that you want to confirm if the Windows Phone 7.8 will be available for Nokia Lumia 710 from T-Mobile. We are sorry to inform you that there are a small number of operators that have chosen not to offer the update to their users.
It is important to recognize that this decision was made solely by the operator and these include the T-Mobile network in the United States.”
All may not be lost though for those, who are brave enough to flash their devices with the WP7.8 firmware available at Navifirm. Though it may be bit risky.
I installed it through Navifirm few months ago. Major advantage is homescreen customization and bug fixes, that’s it. Rest of the limitations of OS are as is.
I’m on T-MO sporting the HTC HD7 the L710-L810 not all mine but I bought them they the carriers want you to buy new devices they don’t want to update. but people who bought the L710 only 9 months ago are screwed though they are still selling this devices as well. T-MO I’ve given up on them
